Trends In Music Promotions
Social Media:
In the age of new media, artists and production companies always utilize social media for the promotion of upcoming music. They do so by creating an engaging environment. This includes teasers and snippets, behind the scenes footage, and promotional content such as images on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok. Moreover, artists often turn to witty taglines or catchphrases that they caption these images with. This also extends to individualized trends. For example, when Taylor Swift was promoting her latest album Midnights, she would write short captions that were catchy lyrics, and she changed her instagram bio to "Meet me at midnight". This created a sense of buzzing excitement among her fans. She also started individualized trends such as "Midnights Mayhem with Me" in which everyday she would reveal one track title via Instagram reels.
YouTube Channel:
Many artists have their own YouTube channels where they release the music videos, BTS footage, tour content and other insights that draws audience to them and their music.
Collaboration with Content Creators:
Social media has given a platform to many previously common people, and these content creators are also called influencers because of the influence they and their platforms have. This allows both the artists and the influencers to benefit from their partnership. For example, Jared Leto, a famous musician often collaborates with a popular influencer Haley Kalil. They come together for short, humorous videos, and although their videos might appear unrelated to Leto's music, the collaboration underlyingly does the job by combining both Leto's and Kalil's audiences to increase the gross engagement.
